C'est jeudi! (It's Thursday!)
I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! This update isn't going to be very long, but I just wanted to mention a few cool happenings in my little Parisian world.
A friend of mine, Kelly, had done some research to find me a Pittsburgh-friendly bar in Paris, and luckily, it's fairly close to my flat! Imagine that!!! It's called the Great Canadian, so I can definitely check out the Pens' playoff games there (although I may cause quite the stir as I root AGAINST Montreal. Sorry, Canadiens.) Plus, the games don't actually start here until 1am, and I don't exactly have Parisian "chums" with whom I can share a pitcher of beer and some wings...but we'll see. I might venture out there one of these nights and be that creepy girl who sits by herself at the bar.
Today, I helped as a translator and accompanied a student group to the Père Lachaise Cemetery where we saw the gravesites of Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, and Victor Noir...among MANY others. It was an amazing yet somber educational experience. At Victor Noir's site, we were told that anyone who touches his statue's crotch area would have increased fertility!!! We all know that I kept my hands safely in my pockets :) Also, Oscar Wilde's gravesite was covered in KISSES; supposedly it is good luck to kiss the memorial. Very cool.
That's all I will share with you today...I am looking forward to getting some much-needed rest this weekend hopefully (that is, if the prostitutes outside will shut up and stop blaring techno. Just saying.)
Bon soir mes amis, à la prochaine...:)
