Mardi

Salut :)

Had a great day at work today; things are starting to slow down a bit as students are becoming more and more acclimated to their courses, the campus, and the city. In addition to my normal daily office tasks, some students have been using me as a resource to communicate with French restaurants, translate French text, and assist with random tasks like figuring out how to use voltage converters/adaptors! (I am the last person to ask about this...I almost started a small fire when I let my curling iron heat up with 220 volts instead of America's 110! oopsy!)

I learned something else new today as well...you know how Paris is deemed "The City of Lights" or "La Ville-lumière?" Well, this is not only because of Paris' early adoption of street lighting! In fact, the City of Lights is famed as a center for education and innovative ideas!! I thought that was incredible!

After work, I ventured to the Monoprix, which is Paris' small, posh version of Target. I bought the essentials: bananas, yogurt, bread, jelly, Nutella, and a frozen pizza. I had to bag my own groceries, which was not only a pain in the ass, but another example of a seemingly insignificant convenience that American stores provide (and that most people, including mysef, take for granted.)

Tomorrow is UF's GRADE DAY and I'm actually looking forward to seeing my grades this semester...I think :) Each member of our cohort picked a song that signifies where each of us will be this summer, and I wanted to share with you the song I had chosen for my little Parisian journey. (All of our group's songs were compiled on a really cool CD!) The song I had chosen is called "Colore" by Les Innocents, and here's a link so you can see the video/hear the song on YouTube:

That's all for now, cats! Enjoy and bonne nuit mes amis!

  1. Uuugh grade day will be so bittersweet! I have guessed for myself:
    Crandall: A
    Ponjuan: A-
    MK: B

It's in my instincts, haha, I can feel it! & luckily for me, the voltage in Mex is the same! Haha, I love that you almost started a fire. It reminds me of Buster from Arrested Development ("Mom says I can't use the microwave!") Hahah <3 you, hunnypants! & keep the updates coming!
